President and CEO Andy Rose presented at yesterday’s Ohio Business Roundtable annual CEO Summit that brought leaders together to discuss balancing scale and focus. Andy shared the strategic rationale for the separation of Worthington Industries to create Worthington Enterprises as a focused designer and manufacturer on a path toward becoming a world-class innovation company with a flexible supply chain.
VETS Indexes recently honored Worthington Enterprises as a four-star employer as part of the organization’s annual evaluation of top workplaces for veterans. Some of the topics discussed were the relationship between inclusion and a thriving business, mental health in the workplace, presentation skills and team building through listening. According to Newsweek, the Most Trustworthy Companies were chosen based on a holistic approach to evaluating trust. Retrofitted Hydrogen Fuel Cell Locomotive Ready for Service! Alexander Schimanofsky, Managing Director of Railway Competence and Certification (RCC), and Herbert Wancura, Managing Director of m.ZERO, planned the H2Rail project so that the retrofitted X534 OTM could do the work of a diesel-electric catenary maintenance vehicle. An additional goal was to create a repeatable retrofitting process that provides a blueprint for certification of future H2 fuel-cell retrofits, e.g. of Diesel shunting locos – of which approximately 150 are in operation in Austria and thousands in Europe. Worthington played a central role – supplying FOURTIS Type 4 cylinders for the loc’s onboard fueling system, as well as a COSMOS 10-ft. container with META1 Type 1 cylinders that serves as the on-site H2 refueling station. Last Wednesday witnessed the project’s successful completion – topped of with a test drive at the @ÖBB’s workshop in Knittelfeld, Austria. #hydrogenmobility #H2Rail #sustainabletransport
Our Chilton, Wisconsin, facility recently achieved recognition for their dedication to veterans from the U.S. Army Reserve Private Public Partnership (P3) Office in the form of a Proclamation from the Office of the Chief of the United States Army Reserve. P3 ensures that Army Reserve Soldiers succeed in their civilian careers and collaborate with organizations, such as Worthington, to offer job opportunities to veterans during their civilian transition. During the ceremony, this facility was also recognized as a Vets Ready Employer from the Office of the Governor of Wisconsin and with an Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) Certificate from the Wisconsin National Guard. Michael Smith, U.S. Army veteran and current Chilton reliability supervisor stated, “We have a good community, we take care of our employees and their families. Worthington has helped me and my family transition from the military lifestyle to civilian life, which has been awesome. We’ve absolutely loved the additional family that we’ve had with Worthington in Wisconsin.”
