A day in the life of… Angie Guevara, Product Specialist Angie was born in Bogotá, Colombia and emigrated to the US with her family at 8 years old. Prior to joining Vortexa, she worked at Mitsui as an LNG Coordinator & Analyst. Fun fact: When Angie lived in Colombia, she went to a school owned by the Colombian military with rolling hills and endless pastures to run. She still often has dreams of running these again.

Q & A with Gert de Boer, Sales Director Gert works as a Sales Director in Vortexa’s Geneva office. Prior to joining Vortexa, Gert worked at a derivatives execution software company called Trading Technologies, ICE Exchange and Allegro Development, an ETRM provider, giving him experience across energy trading and risk management, and a solid network across Europe. Fun fact: Years ago Gert ran a bar in Geneva that was well frequented by the trading community. A day in the life of… Mick Strautmann, Market Analyst Mick is a Market Analyst based in London, focusing on motor fuels fundamentals and the global refinery landscape. Prior to joining the company, Mick worked at Hartree Partners. Fun fact: Mick plans to release his first EP in 2025.
A day in the life of… Christopher Yim, Associate Data Engineer Chris is a city boy through and through, he grew up in Hong Kong and has been living in London for more than a decade. In between, he moved to Birmingham and also Atherstone but all roads led him back to London. Before joining Vortexa, Chris worked at Recycleye, a company specialising in computer vision, and robotics for the waste management industry. As a Computer Vision Engineer, he developed machine learning models to detect and analyse waste, enabling more efficient sorting processes. This role involved visiting various waste facilities to install AI-powered robotic systems designed to enhance sorting efficiency and reduce the amount of material sent to landfills and incineration. Fun fact: Chris can make an incredible Cantonese-style roast pork belly in the air fryer—at least according to his very exclusive sample size of two!
Q & A with Yiannis Achilleos, Graduate Data Engineer Yiannis grew up on the island of Cyprus. He works as a Data Engineer at Vortexa, using advanced ML models and data insights to solve challenging problems, and is responsible for maintaining and improving data pipelines to ensure data and output quality. Prior to joining Vortexa, Yiannis studied Mathematics, Statistics, and Data Science at University, driven by an interest in understanding why and how things work, and how information can be used to structure things and make more reliable decisions. This passion truly came to life during his time with a VC firm, where he was thrilled to leverage data and ML modelling to predict entrepreneurial success. Fun fact: Up until the age of 18 Yiannis was planning to become a professional athlete.
A day in the life of… Ayden Wang, Graduate Full Stack Engineer Ayden is a Graduate Full Stack Engineer based in London. She moved to the UK in 2022 to pursue a Master’s degree in Computer Science, went to the BFI IMAX cinema to see Avatar 2, fell in love with the place, kept going there for more movies, and eventually decided to live in London after graduation. Ayden loves animals and is ecstatic to have a sleeping ferret and a chihuahua in her arms in this photo. Prior to joining the company, Ayden worked at Huawei as a C/C++ Software Engineer building network protocols. Fun fact: Ayden once survived a Middle Earth movie marathon that showed the extended versions of The Hobbit trilogy and The Lord of The Rings trilogy, lasting more than 21 hours.
