This month, we celebrate the honorable achievements of Black Americans in #research and #science. Today, we highlight Jesse Russell, a Black American inventor. Mr. Russell received a BSEE from Tennessee State University and an MSEE from Stanford University. He’s known for enhancing and innovating digital cellular #technology and #ElectricalEngineering. Mr. Russell made headway in digital cellular communication in the 1980s by using high power linear amplification and encoding technologies, receiving a patent for his work in digital cellular base station design. He’s currently a chairman and CEO focusing on broadband wireless technology. He holds over 100 patents. Mr. Russell was one of the initial designers using microprocessors in the Bell System Network when he worked at Bell Labs. He used those technologies for tracking and monitoring calling patterns. His multiple awards include the National Society of Black Engineers’ Outstanding Scientist Award and the US Black Engineer of the Year for best Technical Contributions in Digital Cellular and Microcellular Technology from US Black Engineer Magazine.
