Entretien
First conversations were friendly and great as on every typical recruitment process. It was followed by an online challenge with quiz-like questions and a final coding exercise. The coding challenge isn't hard. So far so good.
Got an Skype phone-screen interview and that's when things got weird. The interviewer wasn't too much friendly at the beginning and didn't let me do my introduction, starting directly with some icebreaker questions. Then he said he wanted to focus on one of my projects of my resume (2+ years ago). I told him ok but my newest projects are a bit more interesting in terms of technology and experience but he ignored. We talked about that project and I was a bit surprised to not be asked one single question related to front-end/Javascript/Web since the role was a full stack with some focus on front-end side.
Finally went to the coding exercise. I explained him my high level approach to the problem, how I planned to tackle some cases and then implemented. Worked on first try. Finally we discussed about algorithm complexity, final questions and some talk related to tech stack on the product.
I left the interview with a lot of confidence for the onsite round but then got the news they were not moving forward on my process. It was sent by a short one-line email, not even a call. Despite being surprised and a bit disappointed I tried to ask for a feedback because obviously something went wrong and I wanted to understand where my perception and theirs took different ways but all I got was another one-liner saying they are not allowed to share feedback.
A bit weird since feedback is pretty common on every positive/negative result and demonstrate some respect to the candidate who took hours to dedicate to that process.
