I am writing about my screwed up experience that I had interviewing with Visa. I had an initial phone screen that was fine. They told me that they wanted me to take an Excel test the next day and try to bring me in the next week for an in person interview. I threw out times that worked for me. However, I ended up getting the test at time that was not convenient for me. Despite the fact of only having 20-30 minutes to take the hour long test, I was still able to do the Excel in a few minutes. Unfortunately, the instructions were very poorly communicated. They rambled about a concept that should have been explained succinctly in a sentence and used terminology that is completely ambiguous to anyone working outside the company such as volume which could mean purchase, payment, or transaction. Last point, Visa is putting emphasis on using Excel to do data analysis which is mostly inefficient compared to SQL. Visa should be more like other Bay area companies that look to improve efficiency through SQL querying or some other type of coding for analysis.
