I was contacted more than a month after applying and went through two screening interviews within a week, the second one being more of a formality such as checking current employment status, right to work etc. I was then invited to an interview with the hiring manager, which went well as the manager seemed very happy with what we discussed and how. As I was interviewing for other opportunities I asked for an indication of the timeline and was told that they were expecting to complete the process within a couple of weeks so I should hear back within a week. The week came and passed without feedback so I contacted the lady who did the screening and she said she passed my query to the hiring team. Two days later I got a no-replay email saying that "feedback was positive, and under usual circumstances we would have been keen to progress you to the next stage. However, we have recently reached the final stage with another candidate in the process, which has resulted in an offer being made". It was disappointing to find out I was left waiting whilst they were going through the final stages with another candidate, but at least they were quick to respond (and escalate when I complained, which is appreciated).
