      I applied a few times to this location since I have beauty retail management experience and a career in makeup artistry. I called in and they let me know they would be hiring soon when some of the girls that were working currently were going to college and were going to be needing someone to replace them but it would be a month or so before they would be hiring. I began esthetics school in this time and when they reached out to me for an interview I was so excited because Ulta is one of my favorite stores. When they scheduled my interview I let them know I was in school and was available after 3pm on week days because of the time it took to get there from school to the Ulta Location. Even though I told them this they asked me to come in earlier than the time I stated because of their management availability. I made it work missing school for this interview because I genuinely wanted this job and experience working at Ulta. The first interview with a team lead went well, she asked me my customer service background, what hours and days i’m looking for. I wore all black and went in confident with my skills and experience. They called me for my second interview and had me interview with another manager, and asked me to come in again earlier than the time I said I was available. I should have taken this as a red flag because they were already disrespecting my time. I had made arrangements to leave a few hours early to get to my interview, the they called me 1 hour before my interview to tell me they are too busy to interview me that day and they don’t know when they’re available to interview me again but they will be in touch basically. A few days pass and I decided to call them and reschedule my interview. They told me a time and day and I had my final interview. I liked the person I interviewed with but I had a gut feeling that something wasn’t going to be right. From canceling last minute to asking me to come in during times I said I’m unavailable I was getting red flags. I come in after my interview to pick up a perfume for my friend and the Lead i originally interviewed with offers me the position and tells me she will call me the next day with the information about my onboarding day. Day of the onboarding comes, I bring my documents and am waiting to be onboarded for a while just sitting around for about an hour when they tell me they can’t onboard me because they’re general manager quit and they don’t have a manager there to onboard me and have to have someone from mission valley who is the proxy manager come and onboard me but she can’t come in today… Also I hadn’t received my job offer email and was asking the lead to resend it and was confirming in my email I never ever received the offer letter. and told me I can start my training. I hesitated but went along with this because I didn’t want to look unmotivated or something. I completed some training videos for another hour or so. During this I had multiple customers come up to me and ask me questions about hair care because there wasn’t anyone else nearby to help them. I went and asked the other employees to help the customer because I was told to focus on training and needed to get this done today. The lead was really the only one around so I would ask her to help the guest with their questions. The lead seemed genuinely annoyed that I was asking her to help the customers and just overall kinda seemed very rushed and rude to me. None of the other staff said Hi besides the cosmetologist working in the hair salon and she said she didn’t even usually work at this location but they needed coverage. The other girls that worked there never said hi or introduced them selves and it was a very cold environment. A few days later they called me and said they actually never did send the offer letter and that they just now sent it. To that offer letter I kindly rejected the offer because even though I had originally accepted the offer this was not aligned with my career goals. I didn’t hear from Ulta for weeks and weeks and then finally get an email that tells me I’ll be getting my compensation but in order to do that I need to come in to Ulta to be onboarded to they can off board me. They gave me a check and I went and got some products. To be honest it was just a headache. Terrible management or at least this situation was handled horribly.

      Straight-forward. One in person one on one interview with a manager. Short process and the manager was friendly. This was during the seasonal hiring time so I started working ASAP.
