I was never told I would have to do a written test so that caught me off guard. I had to match abstract blurbs to BMC publications and give my justification for assigning it to a particular journal. Then I had to write up an email draft responding to an author who was annoyed that the review process was taking so long. Afterwards, a bunch of Q&A's on job history, goals, how I work with a team, etc.
