I interviewed with Salesforce at the Grace Hopper Conference 2015 career fair. The interview was one-on-one and was for 30 mins. It was not a very difficult interview, but the interviewer was extremely rude and snappy. She first gave me a puzzle to solve, which was not very tough, but it was one of those questions where you need to understand the problem well (as with most puzzle questions). She did not help me understand the question and was constantly texting and using her phone. I came up with the solution partly after a few minutes, and was looking to come up with the complete solution when she waved it off and gave me a simple programming question. She just asked me the logic, not to write any code. Again, she was very rude and continued texting on her phone, not answering my questions and eventually told me to write the code. When I showed her my solution, she said it was not efficient(busy with the phone, tone continues to be snappy).
I understand my solution wasn't the best. It was an easy interview and I could have easily done it well, if I was made to feel comfortable. I believe I was a bit thrown off by the attitude and could not do my best. I did a lot of interviews at the conference, and most of the interviewers were nice and courteous, but this experience came as a rude shock. One would not expect this kind of behavior in a huge conference such as GHC, where the focus is on encouraging women in tech.
