Just a quick conversation about my experience with one of the leads but it didn't go further as they did not have an opening with my skillset. Let me know they would reach out if something came up later down the line.

They gave me feedback throughout the process which I really liked and needed. They were pretty timely with updates and feedback. I think only once I had to ping them to see what my status was. I did about 3 phone interviews before I was brought on-site. The day of on-site interviews is a little intense because it’s about 6 panels, but I’ve interviewed with big companies before so it really wasn’t out of the ordinary. It was my day of on-site interviews that really sealed in the fact that I wanted to be there, and I felt like it would be a mutual good fit. The panelists were down to earth and casual, but also serious about their work. I felt like I could just be myself and it was cool to be able to talk about my love for video games, especially with the other women I encountered through the day. I got to tour the campus and ate lunch in the cafeteria. The lunch interview was a little weird because I had to eat and talk but wasn’t bad. After my on-site, a week later I had my final interview with the head of Talent. Everything moved super quick after that.

Let me start out by saying that I had a pretty horrible candidate experience interviewing at Riot Games. When I began the process by speaking to my Recruiter, things were going pretty well and hewas really friendly throughout the process and even gave me some materials to read to help me familiarize myself with the process and company. Once the actual interview began, all of the positives pretty much went to crap. I had two phone interviews; one with a man and one with a woman. The girl was nice, but didn't say much. The guy, however, was extremely rude and condescending. It didn't even feel like an interview to get to know my background, it felt more like an attack of questions to scare me away. I was a contractor at my previous company and he asked why I decided to leave and I gave him a spill of the reasons and he pretty much insulted me. It was extremely unprofessional the way he was speaking to me as well. He kept cussing like he was talking at a bar and not in an interview. I get that some people want to make it seem "casual," but there's a time and a place to do that. I come from a great tech company where candidate experience is a top priority. I now see that Riot Games doesn't follow the same philosophy as other successful companies. Probably one of the worse interviews I've ever been a part of.

Thank you for taking the time to provide our interviewing team feedback, and we're sorry to hear that your experience wasn't a pleasant one. While we never shy from asking difficult questions in interviews, we never want to do so at the expense of a candidate having a bad experience. Reviews like this one are important to us as they help our team improve on the task of discussing difficult topics during interviews. Our team will be specifically discussing this interview event at our weekly meeting with the specific intent of making future interview experiences less painful for candidates.
