An Unpleasant Experience. Recruiter call. Easy HackerRank challenge. Onsite with three 45 minute technical interviews. The onsite starts out with a "tour" which was the recruiter's excuse to ask hundreds of intrusive and uncomfortable questions like: "What other companies are you interviewing with?" (I made the mistake of telling her), "Why did you apply to that company?", "Are you interested in the _____ industry? Is that why you applied to that company?", "How does the Hubspot campus compare to the company you interned at?", etc. The "tour" lasted around 20 minutes and completely drained my energy while I was trying to dodge the inappropriate questions that had nothing to do with Hubspot. The actual place was alright. It had decent design but the departments are scattered across disconnected floors and disconnected buildings. People from one department have to walk outside in the below freezing weather to get to meetings in the other department. There is no cafeteria/dining hall like TripAdvisor or Silicon Valley companies for you people with first world problems. The technical interviews were rushed. Each person asked 5-8 questions on work experiences/projects on the resume. 45 minutes didn't cut it. 1 hour would have been more reasonable. The interviewers kept looking at the time the entire interview. There was another round of uncomfortable questions from the recruiter after the technical interviews. This time, she trying to get me to verbally accept an offer without presenting one to compromise my negotiation position if I was to receive an offer. "What could we do to make you 100% accept the offer?" Then she started talking about how the companies I applied to are a poor fit for me. The recruiter never ran out of uncomfortable questions to ask. The experience was worse than cold call telemarketing and high pressure sales. She tells me that the interviewers are meeting up in a few minutes and she would let me know the results the day after. She calls 2 days later to let me know that the interviewers were meeting up that day (even though she said they were going to meet up 2 days ago) and she would let me know the next day. I didn't hear anything from her for 5 more days until I pinged her for an update.

      Question 1

All the technical questions are on here. Make sure you read the Facebook/Twitter news feed implementation documents. "What other companies are you interviewing with?", "Why did you apply to that company?", "Are you interested in the _____industry? Is that why you applied to that company?", "How does the Hubspot campus compare to the company you interned at?" "What could we do to make you 100% accept the offer?"

Thanks for the thoughtful review--there's a really fine line between understanding a candidates's priorities and interests and overstepping and being too salesy or pushy, and it sounds like we missed the line here. We've spoken with our team and shared the feedback, and promise to use your feedback to improve our tour and interview experience moving forward, so thanks for taking the time to share it--we are working tirelessly to get this component of our experience right, so your feedback helps us get further along here even if it's tough to hear. Sincerely, Katie

I went through several rounds, including an initial screening, a technical assessment, and follow-up interviews. The process was well structured, but I found the technical part challenging because it required both problem-solving and clear communication under time pressure. The interviewers were professional, and the questions were relevant to the role. Although I did not receive an offer, the experience was still valuable and helped me understand the company’s expectations better.

Consists of an Online Assessment, followed by 3 rounds (2 System Design, 1 coding) One of the System Design interviewer was less experienced (with an experienced shadow interviewer). I feel like they didn't drive it correctly, didn't ask me the right follow-up questions and eventually gave negative feedback.
