      Entretien

I applied online after seeing the job posting on Indeed.com. A few weeks later I received an email stating that there was an interest to move forward with me as a candidate and that they would like to set up an interview with me. I was initially very excited as the company has high reviews and is growing rapidly. However, my interview experience left a bad taste in my mouth. My phone interview was set up and the time came and went without a call. Later I received an email from the recruiter stating that she had been caught up in meeting. We rescheduled two more times before she actually called me at the time we had agreed on. Needless to say, I did not feel I was really taken seriously or that they actually cared about me as a potential employee. Throughout the phone interview I felt rushed, I felt absolutely no connection to the recruiter (she was very cold on the phone), and on top of that I found her to be very condescending. I've been working in technology sales for five years. I have met and exceeded my goals and now train people on how to sell, in my opinion I was overqualified for the job. However, I was made to feel like somewhat of an idiot. I find the whole thing extremely unfortunate as the company does look like it could be a great place work. I would recommend to the company to reevaluate the recruiters they have, because they are the face of the company and the first interaction a potential employee will have.

      Question 1

I was asked what Inbound Marketing is...which isn't a difficult question, but the recruiter didn't like the answer I gave, she chortled, and stated "Ummm not exactly." I found it rude and condescending.

Hi there, thanks so much for taking the time to write a review and I'm truly sorry for the negative experience you have. I'm disappointed that our team didn't respect your time or your experience. I would truly like the opportunity to speak with you so that I can get some deeper feedback and use it as a learning opportunity for our recruiters. If you're comfortable with that plan, please send me an email at beckym at hubspot dot com and we can find a time to speak live. Thanks again for raising this and holding us accountable, and I hope we have an opportunity to give you a different impression. All the best, Becky

The process moves very quickly, but the interview process is far above the norm in the channel sales world. The 3rd step is a very detailed role play that they give you 4 pages to prepare for. Expecting a candidate who has never sold your product to be able to dive deep on follow up questions for a product they have never been trained on is excessive. The recruiter and everyone I talked to was lovely, but your missing out on strong candidates by holding them to unrealistic standards.

In one word, amazing! I've always admired HubSpot's products, people, and culture. I've interviewed for a few roles over the years, and each experience has been great. I recently interviewed for this role and had such an outstanding experience I needed to share. The recruiter guided me through the entire process by providing thorough details and multiple resources to help me prepare. There were a total of 5 interviews including a phone screening with the recruiter, phone screening with a sales manager, role play, and two additional interviews with two managers in each. If you're good at what you do and do your homework (read everything they send you) you'll do great! I honestly gained so much from each interview. Unfortunately due to unexpected personal circumstances, I was not able to accept the offer. I'm sure this is a decision that will haunt me for years to come, but I'm extremely thankful for the experience and the connections I made along the way. If there's a position with HubSpot you're qualified for, I highly recommend you go for it!
