      Entretien pour L2 Account Executive

      Candidature

J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. J'ai passé un entretien chez HubSpot (Boston, MA) en mars 2017

      Entretien

Great start, great journey, awkward, unsettling end. 3 phone calls (recruiter screen, manager screen, manager role play) and 1 in person. In person was phenomenally awkward - consisted of several role play scenarios in 2 separate sessions with 2 managers (per session). Highpoint of the awkwardness came with a pretty direct dig at my referral from whom I knew was his direct manager -- there's banter and keeping things above board, and obviously it's my personal inference of the situation, but I read it as a pretty clear dig at said employees competency. Very awkward thing to say in the interview. I was not given an offer - so I'm biased in that regard - but not getting hired for "a lack of energy" is sort of weird when it's not a face to face role and a very distinct comment post role play (over the phone) was "I liked his energy". To summate - the recruiters were offensively good at their job, all deserve a raise, and the sales managers, obviously good at what they do, seemed to be confused about what exactly they were (or were supposed to be) hiring for. Also a super weird vibe on the sales floor. Hindsights 20/20 but I'm not sure if the I left the in person with would have let me take the offer had I gotten one.

      Question 1

Mostly process based and role play scenarios (both sales and not), all pretty standard stuff.

Thanks for taking the time to write a review and I'm sorry your experience interacting with some folks on our team was subpar. To address your comments about the role play in particular, we've gotten feedback on how unprepared some candidates felt and are putting the finishing touches on a few videos and documentation that give an overview of the role plays and tips on how to maximize success. Really appreciate you calling out how we can get better - we'll continue to work with our team on this one. -Becky
