I interviewed at Hertz in Ireland. The initial interview was rather generic, with questions about my qualifications, job history, and tenure. There, the interviewer exhibited a somewhat hesitant voice tone, as evidenced in his questions, in which I was asked to explain why I left each job. As well, he was quick to assume I had left jobs (n.b., the fact is, I dealt with redundancies or had freelance roles with an expiry date). Unfortunately, the interviewer did not understand that I worked at a publicly traded company and was made redundant due to the economic downturn (as reported in the local European press). Can't tell whether the interviewer was inexperienced or prejudiced, which wouldn't be surprising given the anti-foreigner sentiment in Ireland.
