J'ai postulé via la recommandation d'un employé. J'ai passé un entretien chez ExxonMobil (Kuala Lumpur) en déc. 2020

      Entretien

I decided to write this review as I was struggling to find a comprehensive review when I was interviewing with ExxonMobil previously. In summary: 3 interviews done over two days - 1 hour Zoom video call each - STAR format, casual conversations - 1-on-1 with Malaysian engineers and expats, except for the final interview where two senior engineers were present The first two rounds were 100% behavioral. This part was a little bit exhausting as they were scheduled back-to-back on the same day. No technical questions were asked. More on understanding you as a person - your college experience, employment history, past decisions made and why you made them, self-development, future goals, etc. The final interview was 50% technical 50% behavioral. Most of the technical questions asked were basic engineering stuff you should have known from your freshman/sophomore engineering courses. I answered some of the “basic” engineering questions incorrectly here, so don’t worry about giving the right answers every time - just make sure to be honest when you don’t know something. Don’t make things up, think out loud, and ask LOTS of questions. Remember this is as much an interview for you as it is for the interviewers to get to know you. There was also a scenario question given to me where they wanted to know my reaction and thought process in a critical situation. Again, no right and wrong answers here. We talked a lot about office culture and career progression in the final interview. The entire interview process from the first to the final round took about a week (after having waited for months to hear back from the recruiter). I thoroughly enjoyed every conversation I got to have with the interviewers despite not being able to interview in person. I could sense the genuineness in each interviewer in getting to know me as a potential coworker. I liked that they don’t discount the candidate for having no prior experience in the O&G industry since fresh grads are not expected to know the technical side of things anyway. I hope this was helpful!

      Questions d'entretien [1]

      Question 1

Why did you choose to study this major in college? Where do you see yourself in 5 years? Why did you quit your last job? Tell me about your final year project and your role in the team. Tell me about a time when you were given a difficult task and managed to execute it successfully.

Very long process from application to getting a reply from the Hiring Manager. Generally get computer generated replies in email. Very stringent processes, though have applied for a couple, still unable to get replies

The interview process was fairly standard overall. It started with a recruiter screen, followed by a hiring manager interview and a few conversations with team members. The questions were mostly behavioral with some role-specific discussion. Communication was decent, though timing between steps could have been a little clearer.
