I had a great initial interview with a recruiter for a Senior PM role. She told me my experience was a strong fit and said multiple times that she wanted to move me forward to speak with the hiring manager that week or the next. Toward the end of our conversation, I shared that I was pregnant and due in a few months. She assured me it wasn’t an issue and said I should just continue with the interview process, saying we could figure out logistics later as needed. After that, I didn’t hear anything for weeks. I assumed the delay might be due to a holiday weekend, but after I followed up about a month later, I was told they had decided to move forward with other candidates. The lack of follow-through and transparency was deeply disappointing — especially after such a positive conversation and explicitly stated interest in moving me forward. Given the timing, I can’t help but feel that my pregnancy may have influenced their decision to stop the process. It felt, frankly, discriminatory.
