      Entretien

The process was not long, it took a little over 2 weeks. Applied online, next day was invited to partake in a phone interview scheduled 10 days later. After phone interview, a day later was invited to an in-person scheduled another 10 days later. This particular school location is located in a rough part of the Bronx, very congested, surrounded by project housing. Though a charter school, the school looks like a public school inside and out. I was told in my interview email confirmation a week prior to my interview that I would be given a tour and some time to ask questions etc prior to do my mock lesson. That was not the case when I arrived. I came in the building immediately had to put my bag down and was thrown right in the mock lesson and there was no tour of the school. After the lesson, I had an interview w/ recruiter, a teaching training/ development person and some higher up. The interview overall was cold. The TD person first goes over your mock lesson letting you know what you did well and what you could improve. This part was fine but it wasn't comfortable, he was very straight to the point and straight face, no smiles even when telling you what things you did well. After that you get interrogated on what steps would take to do better on those things and you'd get asked over and over until it made clear sense to them to move on. From here the interview was turned over to the higher up. She had no personality, she was very cold, seemed disinterested and demeaning. Nothing I said made sense to her even when I was very clear. When it didn't make sense, you'd know it because she show in her face . The recruiter was just there, nodding head, smiling occasionally. Not sure why b/c it wasn't a comfortable process. While leaving, the room was quite you could hear a pen drop while they watched me gather my things. No "It was sooo nice meeting you." "Have a great trip" nothing. They sat, stern and quietly. They called a few hours later, and shockingly offered me the position. I later declined.

You fill out a few questions on indeed then you're in. They give you one interview prior to a demo, and most people will make it in despite what they tell you.

Long interview process that you have to prepare for. It is not easy and it will not be hard unless you are not prepared. Practice, practice practice would be my advice

I applied online and the next day a talent associate emailed me and invited me to schedule a phone interview. The phone interview was scheduled before the beginning of the following week. It was 30 minutes exactly and she was really friendly and responsive. She told me at the beginning her responses would be delayed because she was taking notes. She told me she would have to show them to her colleagues before I could move onto to the next step. But by the interview she ended up just inviting me herself to the in person interview. It’s a 20 minute mock lesson, a debrief, and then a traditional interview. It was scheduled for 2 weeks later, but it was a holiday so I expected the delay. I went to the in person interview in the Bronx, everyone was really nice and greeted me warmly. The same talent associate I had been speaking to have me a tour around the school. It was really impressive honestly, the kids were really engaged in everything and giving thoughtful responses. We watched a character class for a while and it was kindergarteners talking about being responsible and it was adorable. They have strict discipline but it’s not devoid of love, at least not at Classical I where I interviewed. Then I did the mock lesson which I thought was terrible but they were impressed. It was the second grade teacher, my talent associate, and another coach. The coach gave me feedback in another room after and I took notes on the back of the lesson plan which was good because at the end they ask you what were the key points. She left and I had the traditional interview with one of the deans and he was really kind and responsive. After that they told me they would contact me in a few days and walked me out. My talent associate called the next day and offered me the position.
