They have no clear idea of what they’re looking for in the role, so they approach the process carelessly. They want someone with deep experience in marketing, sales, product, content, and research, yet in the end, obviously, nothing is ever enough and they come up with an excuse changing 100% the scope. They assess candidates in a completely random way, with no connection whatsoever to the job description they themselves created, showing that the long process they put candidates through had no real value and only served to waste people’s time. One person ends up defining the role, showing that all the numerous previous interviewers had absolutely no real decision-making relevance in the process.

Negative experience overall and a massive waste of time. The process extended on far beyond what’s normal for any company. Even though I apparently met every requirement and went through the entire process over many months, in the end they completely changed the role’s requirements, gave feedback that had nothing to do with what they had been asking for, and hired people for similar roles in other countries, with absolutely no experience related to the original requirements. Unfortunately, it seems Canva needs adult supervision before starting a recruitment process for executive positions, as they have no idea what they’re looking to hire and appear to be playing with other people’s time.
