Unfortunately, the cons of the job outweighed the positives. The workload was overwhelming, requiring me to take on multiple roles, all while being underpaid for my photography work. Compensation was well below industry standards, with no royalties or usage rights compensation. Payment delays and slow, unhelpful responses added to the frustration. The work environment was inconsistent, and frequent changes with each brief made it hard to settle into a routine.
The final straw came when an artistic director failed to provide a clear retouching brief, leading to multiple rounds of unpaid revisions. Canva also refused to pay part of the agreed amount for my last job due to a failure to apply an exchange rate agreement, despite years of working with them. After numerous follow-ups, they ignored my emails for months, leaving the issue unresolved. This experience revealed serious communication and transparency issues within the company.
