We have another exciting leadership announcement! Peter George, MD, FACC will serve as the new Chief Medical Officer for Cardiovascular Services at UnityPoint Health. He'll join us in February 2026. In this role, Dr. George will align, strengthen and expand cardiovascular services across all of the communities we serve in Iowa and the Midwest. His leadership will advance our commitment to improving access to comprehensive heart care in both urban and rural areas as well as support the growing need for cardiovascular specialty expertise throughout the areas we serve. Dr. George is board certified in cardiovascular disease with focus on outpatient general, preventative and noninvasive cardiology. He currently serves as the System Vice President, Acute Care Services for OhioHealth. Previously, he held administrative and clinical leadership roles within OhioHealth’s Heart and Vascular Service Line.
UnityPoint Health – Grinnell Regional Medical Center (GRMC) secured a $1 million federal grant, championed by Congresswoman Ashley Hinson, to expand and modernize our labor and delivery unit. This highly competitive funding is vital, ensuring that local families across five rural counties can continue receiving high-quality maternity care close to home. The funding secured now totals $3.4 million, pushing us closer to realizing the new, state-of-the-art OB unit.
