Recently, SSOE's Board of Directors hosted a Happy Hour networking event at our office in Austin, Texas. It was an incredible opportunity for our local staff to rub shoulders with corporate leadership and forge personal connections. This special occasion marks the first of many this year, as our board has committed to rotating their quarterly meetings to different offices, ensuring consistent access to leadership. #SSOEaustin #chooseSSOE
A day in the life at SSOE: Last week, five local students shadowed our South Carolina design team, gaining hands-on insight into the world of engineering and design. Using Saluda Elementary School as their blueprint, the students explored the full journey of the AEC industry, from project planning to completion, all in just one day. The students reviewed digital drawings and 3D renderings while donning hard hats for a site visit, gaining real-world experience alongside our experts—even enjoying lunch at the construction crew’s favorite spot. It's our vision to design and build the future for our clients, colleagues, and communities. From mentorship to practical experiences, we're proud to cultivate the STEM leaders of tomorrow. #SSOEsoutheast
We're excited to announce that Ciera Wheeler, a junior majoring in architectural engineering at Tennessee State University in Nashville, has been selected as the recipient of our first-ever Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) scholarship. This month, our Black Leaders and Collaborative Changemakers (BLACC) Employee Resource Group has put together several activities to celebrate Black history that we will be sharing throughout the month. Next week, SSOE’s Brandon Darroch, Julie Dolan, and Erik Plesset will be attending The Construction Users Roundtable (CURT) National Conference in Tucson! Full of educational and networking opportunities, the conference is a chance to collaborate with colleagues, learn current best approaches, exchange information, and help improve industry performance. Founded in 2000 by construction and engineering executives representing major corporations across the U.S. and around the world, CURT enacts broad, effective owner representation and increased leadership on industry issues.
SSOE was recently featured in the Austin Chamber of Commerce blog for the grand opening of our Austin office in the Texas Innovation Corridor. The article highlights our Open House event in September where we celebrated the milestone with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and reception. Our Austin office is a key part of our vision to support advanced technology, industrial manufacturing, and architecturally driven projects across our diverse market sectors, all the while continuing our rich legacy in Texas and contributing to the vibrant Austin community. #SSOEaustin
Topping out in Kentucky! Earlier this month, SSOE’s Matt Bierschbach and Adrienne Taylor signed the final beam at Ascend Elements EV battery cathode precursor (pCAM) manufacturing facility—alongside our partners at Turner Construction Company and Kokosing. The first of its kind in North America, this pCAM facility will dramatically reduce carbon emissions and create new jobs in the Hopkinsville area.
We're celebrating the recent appointment of three SSOE architects—David Johnson, Tim Swartz, and Ashley Hathaway—to the AIA Toledo's Board of Directors. #PressRelease
