We're thrilled to announce our latest milestone: PhonePe UPI is now live in Sri Lanka! PhonePe has launched UPI services in collaboration with LankaPay across LankaQR merchant points at a grand event held in Colombo. Indians travelling to Sri Lanka can now enjoy seamless UPI transactions at any LankaQR powered merchant. The grand launch saw presence of several key stakeholders from Sri Lanka's financial ecosystem. Shri Santosh Jha, High Commissioner of India to Sri Lanka, emphasized the significance of this UPI launch as a stepping stone toward a broader digital partnership between our nations. “PhonePe has always been at the forefront of driving innovation in payments. We are incredibly proud to be driving UPI adaptation across India, and our expansion to Sri Lanka is another exciting step forward. ” said Ritesh. Pai, CEO, International Payments, PhonePe.
PhonePe users can now make UPI payments in UAE via NEO PAY terminals across a wide array of retail stores, dining outlets, as well as tourist and leisure attractions. The transactions are seamless with account debits in INR, showcasing currency exchange rates. NRIs with UAE mobile numbers can also link their existing NRE and NRO accounts to facilitate payments using the PhonePe App. This partnership between PhonePe and Mashreq, facilitated by NPCI International Payments Limited (NIPL), enhances convenience for Indian travelers. “With this launch, customers can now conveniently transact through UPI, a payment method they are familiar with. PhonePe and Singapore Tourism Board enter a two-year strategic partnership; marking a significant milestone in enhancing the travel experience for Indian visitors in the island-city. Indian travelers can now enjoy the convenience of using PhonePe for instant, seamless, and secure payments across 8,000+ merchants in Singapore. This collaboration is a first-of-its-kind between a national tourism organization and a UPI payments platform, reflecting our shared vision to elevate the travel experience by integrating the ease of UPI payments into the journey of every traveler. “Singapore is a dynamic destination with unique offerings that are well appreciated and celebrated among Indian travelers.
