Meet Matthew, one of our new starters, here to tell us about his experience ... "My journey started with working from home for that first week to give me the foundations that I needed for this job role. I have now been working in the Lancaster store for some time along side Matt and his team who have been excellently guided by Andy Fletcher. Everyone has made it so easy to learn a seemingly overwhelming amount. Credit where credit is due and region 2 from my experience is where credit should be. To the people I know I'd just say it's a great place to work for you to just be you. There is not pressure from anyone to be anything that you are not and the company give you the tools you need to do the best kind of work your way. There is an overwhelming amount of support that comes from the company and they really do care about their customers and staff. Truly eye opening."

Once you become a proud face of Carpetright you get access to a wide range of benefits, one of them being retailer discounts through our benefits platform, Proud Perks. One of our colleagues, Sharn, told us this: "Proud Perks has been a fabulous benefit to have over the last year. I’ve recently purchased a house, so having access to discounted vouchers has meant I've saved over £350 whilst setting up my new home. I've saved with Ikea, B&Q, Argos, Curry’s and more. It may not seem like a lot at the time but with it totalled up; it has made a huge difference and I’m really grateful for this. I know there’s many more features to access with Proud Perks, so I look forward to utilising it further over the next year." Come and join us as a proud face of Carpetright and get yourself some Proud Perks!
Meet Mansur, one of our Multi Site Store Managers. He told us about his career so far with Carpetright: "I started my role as a part-time advisor at Carpetright in July 2021 while pursuing my Master's in Global Business. I transitioned from a part-time advisor to a full-time advisor upon completing my studies, subsequently progressing to the role of Deputy Manager. This progression continued as I advanced to the position of Store Manager and, eventually, assumed the responsibilities of an interim multi-site manager. Carpetright has offered exceptional training, abundant resources, and unwavering support from both my regional team and mentor. The commitment to transparency embedded in the core values is evident, motivating me to consistently strive for heightened performance. The company's comprehensive roadmap has empowered me to formulate my own strategic plan for the next five years, and I am confident in its successful realisation. I recently celebrated with the winning team after receiving a Pride award in recognition of outstanding service and performance—a testament to the profound and distinctive culture within the organisation. My journey within the company is a testament to the remarkable support I've received, progressing from the most fundamental phase to accomplishing and aspiring for more. The warm and cooperative culture, coupled with an extensive support system, has been instrumental in my professional growth. "
We're delighted to introduce our overall Pride Award winner for 2023, Jo, who attended our Carpetright Winners Dinner last month. Jo tells us here why she thinks she stood out and what it takes to succeed at Carpetright. "When you work with a great team of people who want to deliver the best results, you feel compelled to do your very best to support them. I truly believe that if people ask for help you must step up and do the right thing, after all it’s really not hard, especially when you like people. Over the past couple of years the In Home Services Department has been through an immense transformation, which has been exciting and challenging all at the same time and it’s been fabulous to have been part of this. I never dreamt I would win this, as there were so many worthy Pride winners and am just so grateful to feel valued by others. I have been very fortunate to work for a leader who has wanted me to use my operational skills and push me to explore new ways of working and then allow me to put them into practice. I feel more alive in the past 2 and half years than I have for a long time. Having the right leadership makes all the difference it’s energising when you are recognised for who you are and what you have to offer. Recognition helps you grow that’s for sure."
We love to celebrate our long service colleagues and there are quite a few of them! Part of the way we do things around here; for long service milestones, we mark the occasion with certificates, gifts and a celebratory lunch hosted by our senior leaders. It's our way of saying thank you for all you've done!
Following on from last weeks post on our Carpetright Winners Dinner, we wanted to share one of our winners thoughts on why he thinks he stood out and what it takes to succeed at Carpetright. Our Top High Flyer Chris Sanaghan said: "I won because of the team of people around me. We have an excellent sales team who are all customer service obsessed. The team come in every day wanting to do an excellent job and to deliver the best level of service we can to customers. We have amazing In Home Consultant and fitting teams who assist us in delivering excellent end to end service. My Regional Manager also makes me feel trusted and valued to make the decisions I have to make my business as successful as possible. It feels amazing to have won, it is a life changing prize for my family and I. The team are relentless in asking for customer feedback and this has shown in our results. The level of consistency shown over the year has also been amazing. I feel the most valued I have every felt in my seven years here. It makes all the hard work worthwhile when you are recognised in such a big way. The biggest advice I would given is bring a positive attitude to work and take pride in your store. Treat it like it is yours and you are not just managing it for someone else. Mistakes and issues happen deal with them quickly and decisively and show real empathy even if it wasn't your fault. Take ownership of the mistakes you do make and rectify them as quickly as you possibly can."
We are excited to share that last Tuesday we held our first ever Carpetright Winners Dinner. The purpose was to recognise and celebrate the exceptional performance of our people - those who have made a difference to the experiences of both colleagues and our customers. The attendees were either High Flyer’s (our Top 20 Store Managers) or Pride Award winners, who had been nominated by their colleagues for demonstrating our values. Our winning High Flyer, Chris was described as; "being a figure head in his region, often covering for his Regional Manager when they are on leave. His team at Hermiston Gait adore him and he brings all the right behaviours in his focus on sales and service". The overall Pride Award Winner was Jo, our Senior Field Services Manager. Jo was described as "being instrumental to a number of key projects which had a huge financial positive impact on the business and doing this through working tirelessly and doing it with a smile on her face”. Kevin Barrett our CEO said; "well done to all of our winners, each and every one of you make us who we are and what we do. I hope this recognition inspires others to make a difference to contributing to the success of our business now and in the future. Enjoy your rewards, they are well deserved!"
Meet Kelly, who works as a Customer Advisor at our Farnborough store and has worked with us for over 25 years! She told us “I first started working part time as I had small children and have worked my way up to working full time as they got older. I enjoy working at Carpetright because I've always felt part of a bigger family and I've been very lucky to have worked with some truly amazing people. I feel valued, supported and cared for within my team. I'm really good at listening to people and even better at talking which has always helped me in this work environment. Sounds a bit cheesy but I do hope to stay working and retire whilst being with Carpetright".
