Happy Nurses Week! Today and everyday, we are thankful for the nurses who show up to support the people we serve. Take a moment today to thank a nurse, if you know one. #happynursesweek❤️
We are proud to announce Selina Popovich Evans, LCSW, as our new Georgia State Director of Crisis Services. Popovich Evans will oversee Benchmark’s mobile crisis response services (MCRS), which operate in Regions 1, 4, 5, and 6 of Georgia, as well as our nine short-term crisis homes and two transitional care homes. “Benchmark has been providing crisis services in Georgia for well over a decade,” says Popovich Evans. “We have an amazing team of Peer Support Specialists, Direct Support Professionals, Registered Behavior Technicians, and more. This work is only made possible through the efforts and compassion of so many, including the clinicians, nurses, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts across the state.” Popovich Evans has worked for Benchmark since 2014. She started as an MCRS Clinician. Later, she was promoted to a Regional Director role, where she oversaw mental health and Intellectual and Developmental Disability (IDD) mobile crisis response in Region 4 and directed two crisis homes.
One of Benchmark's core values is potential. We aim to see the highest potential in the individuals we serve, the people we work with, and the systems we support. Last month, Dr. Jaime Garza and Sarah Goddard, LCSW, got the opportunity to present at the Idaho Association of Counties (IAC) Midwinter Legislative Conference. Jaime and Sarah oversee Benchmark's mobile crisis response program in Idaho, which was launched in 2024. Their presentation was about "Doing More with What We Have: How 988 Strengthens Local Systems without New Burdens." This was a cool opportunity for Jaime and Sarah to meet with sheriffs, county commissioners, and other folks from all around the state. Great work!
Greg, an individual served by Benchmark in Northwest Ohio, has struggled with hypochondria, which led to routine visits to hospitals. With the help of his Team Lead, Ireland, and the rest of the staff, he has made incredible progress over the past year, with just one hospital visit. With Ireland’s guidance, he reached his goal and fulfilled his lifelong dream of going on a cruise -- swimming with dolphins, meeting animals, and soaking up every moment. Greg is living his dreams thanks to Ireland and the entire team!
The individuals at Benchmark's Blvd Day Program in New Jersey had a great week last week. They spent some time exploring their community and enjoyed new games they purchased with Buck Up funds. Buck Up is an employee fundraising campaign where Benchmark employees give a "buck" or more per paycheck to help fund unfunded or underfunded items/activities for the people we serve. The money raised is matched $2 to $1 by WindSwell Foundation.
Greater Fort Wayne Inc., the area Chamber of Commerce in Fort Wayne, Indiana, interviewed Doug Beebe, Benchmark’s CEO, as part of a series called Meet the Maker: Around Allen County, which highlights leaders of local organizations and their approaches to leadership, team development, and growth
Before Leston was referred to Benchmark’s Active Consulting program, he sat in jail for months. Not because he needed to be there or because of the legal system, but because there was nowhere else for him to go. No other provider was willing to work with him. AR Summit Community Care, St. Francis Area Developmental Center, and Benchmark Human Services worked together to support Leston’s needs. Because of this collaborative effort, Leston is now enjoying life in the community. Watch his story. #BehavioralHealth #CustomizedSolutions #IDD

Last week, our HR staff gathered in Fort Wayne, IN for their annual retreat! Since we have programs all over the country, this is a special opportunity for staff to gather face-to-face to share ideas, connect, and plan for the year ahead. Here are some photo highlights from the Talent Recruitment team. Plus, our HR staff networked with other support departments, including Payroll, at a TinCaps baseball game. Fun!
