      J'ai postulé via un recruteur. J'ai passé un entretien chez simpleclub en mars 2022

      Even though the interview process is pretty long, it's well defined and the interviews are amazing people. Almost every step is clear and the feedback for each step wasn't so fast, but was efficient. My point here was in the final step. After passing all the steps with a "very positive feedback", and even though the process was for a Software Engineer Typescript position, I was asked about a lot of high level questions, more applicable for a Engineering Manager position or a CTO position in the company. I could provide the best answers that I could and I thought that was only a chance for them to know more about my potential to be a leader in the team, in the future. But after the final step, I receive a simple feedback that the company wouldn't proceed with an offer, because I couldn't provide the best answers in the final step. Please, be more focused in the process to provide questions more directly related to the position that is required.

      The process took about two weeks. It covered hiring manager interview, case study home assignment, case study interview, culture fit with a co-founder. Home assignment and the interviews were easy. However, I got the vibes of them using me to design the system for their product instead of evaluating my skills, judging from the clarifying questions. After the last round, I got rejected. Cited reason was a non-efficient DB query (done according to the DB documentation) for the additional functionality I implemented for the home assignment.

      Dear Applicant, We’re sorry to hear that your interview process with simpleclub fell short of your expectations, particularly with the take-home assignment’s design. Please know it is not our intention to have candidates perform actual work for the company. Our goal with these assignments is twofold: to give candidates a realistic preview of the daily work at simpleclub and to allow us to fairly assess the skills relevant to the job. The focus of our evaluation is on understanding the thought process behind each candidate’s work, including the decisions and trade-offs they make. With your submission, we observed an approach to database pagination that differs from standard practice. We provided opportunities to elaborate on the reason of that solution in several interviews with a time gap of several day between them. This, according to our expectations, would allow an applicant enough time to reassess topics which they couldn’t fully address during the prior interviews and eventually come up with a more technically proficient solution. We embrace feedback as a core value within simpleclub, and we represent it also in our recruitment processes. This is why we have taken steps to refine the assignment guidelines to prevent any future misunderstandings. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We wish you all the best!
