The interview was long and tiresome with two other engineers. They were looking for 'the right answers' rather than listening to my answers. It felt like a quiz rather than an interview.

The interview consisted of 2 stages: a phone interview to discuss technical ability, and a face to face interview which comprised of some pair programming and then further questions with two other, more senior staff members. The phone interview discussed, among other topics, TDD, SOLID and software architecture patterns. The pair programming was a good experience and provided good insight into what was expected of development. The person I worked with was helpful and there was a good balance of code and discussion. I had a negative experience with the questions. I got the impression that instead of listening to the answers I was giving, the interviewers were just looking for the "right" answers and it felt a bit like box-ticking. Furthermore, I spoke to three people, but they each asked me the same questions and there was a lot of repetition. We disagreed about the importance of tests compared to business requirements and client expectation. I think this was point by which both parties realised that this wasn't the role for me.
