I was contacted by a recruiter from ecobee on LinkedIn in mid-February. The initial phone screen happened about a week and a half later, with the focus being a general overview of my background and qualifications, salary expectations, and information about the company and the position. That was followed by a half-hour technical phone screen with the principal developer several days later. Questions were related to projects I'd worked on, generally probing experience rather than testing knowledge. I got positive feedback right away, with a request for an in-person pair programming interview. The in-person interview happened later the same week and was scheduled for two hours. After a tour of the office, I paired with two developers on a project that I was working on. It was a fun and rewarding experience and we ended up staying almost an hour past the scheduled end of the interview, chatting about projects and code. After that, I was given the option of interviewing with the manager for the position, which I did over the phone. An offer was extended several days later and after a bit of negotiation, everything was wrapped up the next week, exactly a month after I responded to the initial LinkedIn message. I had a great experience. Everyone was super friendly, the interview process was fun and much more effective than parrying a barrage of whiteboard questions, and I loved working with the recruiter, who was super responsive through the whole process and really went above and beyond to keep me in the loop (even sending over the offer details and answering my questions on the weekend). Probably the best interview experience I've had.

Three rounds : 1. Recruiter call 2. 1 hr technical experience round with manager - Managers are not well-trained to interview candidates. The technical questions are not well-formed. I basically had to guess what they are asking. Didn't move beyond this round. 3. System design round
