      Entretien

I recently attended an interview process at this company, and I’d like to share my experience to help others. Don't judge without reading to the end. The first round was an online interview via a video call. It was a smooth and typical interview session. There was one interviewer , a kind and professional lady, who asked a range of questions. She was completely understanding, which I appreciated. The session lasted about 30 minutes. At the end, she asked about my current and expected salary, and I mentioned that I expected Rs. 150,000. As promised, I was called in for the second round, which was to be held at their office. I was the only candidate there at the time. I was given three written test papers and asked to complete them within 2.5 hours. The questions were fair, and I did my best. After submitting the papers, I waited for the next step. At that moment, I genuinely thought this was a good company, and I was excited about the opportunity. However, what followed was quite disappointing and disheartening. After a long wait (with no refreshments or even a cup of tea offered), I was finally called in for the final discussion by their lead HR, Dimuthu Weerasinghe. Initially, he seemed polite and respectful, but that quickly changed. In the meeting room were also a Software Architect and the same Senior Software Engineer who had interviewed me in the first round. From the beginning of the discussion, I was made to feel uncomfortable. They questioned my expected salary in a demotivating tone and to make matters worse, they reviewed my written answers, especially the theoretical questions and pointed out mistakes in an unnecessarily harsh and condescending manner. It felt more like an attempt to mentally break me than a constructive review. Although I had answered all the coding-related questions correctly, they dismissed that entirely and focused only on minor flaws in theoretical responses. I felt insulted and deeply discouraged throughout the session. The lead HR, in particular, was unprofessional and disrespectful in how he handled the conversation. The Senior Software Engineer remained quiet during most of it, and I could sense she was aware of how uncomfortable the situation had become. I left feeling mentally drained and extremely disappointed. I had spent nearly six hours of my day hoping for a valuable opportunity, only to be treated poorly. It’s upsetting to see candidates being disrespected like this, especially when the issue was simply a salary expectation that could have been discussed professionally. If the company wasn't willing to meet the salary expectation, they could have communicated that respectfully without making a candidate feel humiliated. This experience made me question the company culture and how candidates and possibly employees, are treated internally. I truly regret spending my time there and hope they reflect on how they handle future interviews.
