I have interviewed with the company on the phone and on-site. I was changing my career from academia to business, with Ph.D. in machine learning. DataXu seriously failed to recognized the potential. People on the team whom I met during the on-site was much more junior then me, asked simplistic questions, and were totally unable to understand or relate to my answers. Zero attempt to see how a person can think, look into previous work and projects, personal achievements, even from a hiring manager. Result? They told me they appreciate my desire to learn (adtech insights, I presume), but I appear too junior to them. Very immature approach. I am very happy I never got to work there and how my career turned around thereafter. I do hope DataXu better understood realities of the data science job market and improved their interview since. Hint: They are heavily inclined to statistics, according to the management's background, hence if you are majoring in statistics - go for it, it might be a place for you.

I applied online, was approached by the recruiter. After that a 30 minutes call with the VP of Optimization. After that a take home data science challenge was given. The data challenge was relatively easy and I did it well. After 3 days the recruiter came back saying that I wasn't selected. I directly asked the reason for my rejection. I was told that some other candidate was already called for the onsite interview because he/she was in the interview process much before me and that they had no constructive feedback as such.

I was contacted by the recruiter and then a technical discussion with the team leader. This was followed by a test regrading solving some data science problems. I then went to the last step of interviewing with the team. There are around 6 rounds and I talked to different people from the team and the company. They are all friendly and guided me on some questions. The whole process was smooth and I got quick responses at each step. The recruiter is professional and helpful.
