      Entretien facile

      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 1 jour. J'ai passé un entretien chez Zendesk (San Francisco, CA) en juin 2015

      Entretien

Had a phone call with the recruiter. It went really well and she said she would like to move me forward and schedule another call with the team's hiring manager. I followed up twice with no response. I took time away from work to have this call; the least a recruiter can do is follow up even with a rejection. Or not lead candidates on from the start if they think there's a chance the team may decide not to move forward. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

Easily 5 rounds of interview and many people in between making a decision hence making the selection process long. Many other departments are involved. Most interviewers are polite and well mannered from the HQ.

      Entretien

Applied online and process took 4 weeks. After 2 weeks I was invited to speak to the recruiter for a quick 30 minute screening. The entire time he sounded like he was eating while on the phone with me. A few days later I was invited to interview with 2 individuals of the team I would have joined, via Zoom. I thought the interviews went well and was asked to interview with the hiring manager via Zoom the following week. Interviewed with the hiring manager who led me to believe that I would be invited to an onsite interview where I would give a presentation to the team. Two days later, I received an email from the recruiter telling me they had decided not to move forward with my candidacy. Although the people I interviewed with were "nice," I really feel like my time was wasted. I postponed a trip out of town just so I could be available at time convenient to the interviewers because I was led to believe that I would be moving forward through the process. I am exceptionally qualified for the position I applied for and really believe it came down to whether or not the hiring manager liked my personality. It is what it is but don't tell people "they loved you" if that is in fact not the case. Needless to say, I am moving on to other opportunities but I no longer have the reverence for Zendesk that I did prior to this experience. Huge waste of my time!

The candidate experience was absolutely horrible. While a recruiter was pushing for availabilities for interviews, she suddenly sent me email to inform that Zendesk had decided to go with another candidate. I thought that this was the company specializing in the customer service experience. Unfortunately such customer-service mentality does not seem to apply to its recruiting process. I simply would not recommend Zendesk to anyone simply because of its unprofessional and quite frankly broken recruiting processes. I felt I was treated like a piece of furniture.

What was your proudest moment? (Questions were very theoretical and using classic Lou Adler interview questions)

Hello, and thank you for taking the time to post a note about your recent candidate experience with us. I'm sorry to hear that it left you with a negative feeling about our recruiting process. Sorry to hear you felt out of the loop as to your candidacy and where you stand in the process; We certainly did not intend for this to occur. It sounds like there was a communication breakdown in this case, and I've reviewed the process with the team to be sure we remedy this type of situation going forward. If you'd like to discuss this live I'd welcome a chat with you. You can reach me directly at jchaunceykelly@zendesk.com.
