had a ten minute phone interview with the academic program director and was offered a position at the end of the call due to my GPA. overall the interview was easy and straightforward.

There was no interview to obtain a graduate teaching assistantship. The assignments of teaching assistants are provided based on the number of positions they have available and they typically will give spots to those who have been at the school the longest (i.e. went to undergrad at the university).
