The interview process was very informal. It consisted of an hour-long meeting with the managing editor and news editor in a large conference room. During the process, I was asked about experience writing on tight deadlines, dealing with uncooperative sources, taking my own photos, working with diverse people and limited resources. I also brought a portfolio of clippings and discussed the breaking news, feature and investigative pieces I'd worked on as an individual reporter and as part of a group.
Overall, I found my experience interviewing with The Winchester Star' to be above average. The editors who conducted my interview were respectful of my time and travel schedule. They were kind, gracious and made clear to me the next steps in the process.
