I was interviewed by the director of the company and a recent chartered engineer. They were lovely and made me feel comfortable with the interview running around 1.5 hours in total. The interview was not like any typical interview, for example, usually the interview starts with "Tell me about yourself". I was not asked about any of my part-time jobs or even hobbies. The interview was a lot more conversational, and it was evident, that the director did not need to follow a set of questions, as they had the professional judgment to assess the graduate's competency through the conversation. It seemed to me that the director was looking for 2 things. The right attitude and professional etiquette towards engineering, and the technical background to support this. The majority of the interview was around discussing my project-based work at uni. This was followed by a series of 5 technical questions.
