A recruiter reached out to me on LinkedIn about a senior consulting role he thought I would be a good fit for. After an initial screening, he passed me along to a Senior Manager in my local practice. The SM shared with me that they open their roles months in advance to collect as many candidates as possible before committing to someone. This role’s lead time was 4 months away and was not for a campus hire, so for anyone looking to start immediately, it was a shock. He also said it would be 5-7 conversations with additional teammates over the following two months. I ended up withdrawing as I didn’t have time to commit to that long of a process.

Question 1
Are you comfortable with longer hour work weeks and occasional weekend work if needed?
I submitted an application because I met all of the Required Qualifications of the job description. I was contacted by internal Talent Acquisition at West Monroe, and we set up a phone screen. He asked me to give my 5-10 minute background of myself so I laid out my expertise, then he asked me if I had any specific experience with a certain sub-industry/domain and I said no but that I've ramped on new topics quickly in all of my previous roles so would be prepared to do so again. He said that experience was non-negotiable for the team then ended the call. No where in the job description is that stated, otherwise frankly I wouldn't have applied or spent time prepping for it. I sent email feedback stating they should add that to the required qualifications instead of burying it in desired, but the job description has not changed.
3rd party HR reached out and then had a multi round teams interview with the team. Case study was given and needed to be provided back the next day. They reviewed and the whole process took less than 2 weeks.

Question 1
what are the different areas that one should think about when accessing a IT implementation project?
I had a very disappointing experience during the interview process with West Monroe. The HR representative asked numerous questions that were unrelated to the role I applied for, and some even bordered on probing into confidential details about my current job — which made me feel extremely uncomfortable.
The tone came off as rude and invasive rather than professional or engaging. To make matters worse, the interviewer did not leave any time at the end for me to ask questions about the company or the role. It felt like a one-sided interrogation rather than a two-way conversation.
Overall, I left the interview with a negative impression of the company culture. Based on my experience, I would advise others to proceed with caution or consider looking elsewhere.
