I write this review due the fact that this organization is trying to corner the entire analytics professionals market. If you read between the lines they are trying to go after the big boys in the name of Amazon. The interview process starts well with a email and phone call from their recruiter. This is followed by call from the hiring manager. All good so far. However the process turns to the worse in the next step, at least it did for me. However, there will be warning signs all along the way if you analyze their questions. If you logon to their career site, you will see that they have many positions open in the data and analytics area. The hiring manager will tell you more than 40-50 positions are open in his vertical alone. This makes you wonder "WHY". In fact the hiring manager will tell you he is very skeptical how can they possibly find so many data and analytics professionals. Then when you analyze their balance sheet you will see that year over year they have been bleeding cash with a negative EPS. All this just raises flags. Anyway the interview process goes level as someone will test you on high school mathematics and judge you on it. They will however, justify this carefully in the interview process by asking the question "How would you assess or hire a person in a similar role?". So if you an analytics professional in the job market and are looking for a job in the Boston market, 9/10 you will contacted by Wayfair recruitment. If you do, please brush up on your retail knowledge and high school math. This even though their recruiters and 3rd party recruiters will tell you, they are looking for people with diverse backgrounds and not specifically on retail. If you are one of those individuals who can get to the offer stage. my advice would to aim high, very high and negotiate much higher. They need you!! If you dont get the job, well you are finished. Expect a formal email from their recruiters to feel free to apply for any other positions. Well guess what, I did. I even got contacted by a 3rd party recruiter but then got shouted at for applying a second time.

Had first round via video conference and second round in person in the Boston office with a broader team. Wayfair's ability to evaluate senior-level talent from adjacent industries is laughable and pathetic. The company is growing like crazy and they have hundreds of open roles and the job descriptions are written in a way that makes it appear as though they are open to people from various industry backgrounds who have core skills in a particular topic area (e.g., Analytics) but once the interview process starts all of the interviewers are searching for Retail/e-Commerce experience examples. In other words, if in your last role you led an Analytics team of 150 people but you happened to work in Financial Services or CPG or Marketing or Software then forget it, you will be treated like an inexperienced junior-level employee. I honestly don't know how this company is going to meet its growth targets because there simply are not that many other e-Commerce companies in the Boston area for them to source from. At some point, Wayfair Senior Leadership will need to step in and start to police this process because it is clearly flawed. Ready for the punchline? I ended up accepting an offer from a different Fortune 500 company as their Chief Data Officer. The Wayfair recruiter told me that the interview team felt as though I was maybe a better fit for an "Associate Director" role at Wayfair Analytics. Pathetic...

      Question 1

Interviewers each focused on different aspects of the process (one focused on leadership, one focused on a case study, one focused on an Analytics exercise, one focused on general analytics background, etc.)
