First I got a call to interview for a Data Scientist position at Disney Streaming Services in Nov 2023. Did a tech screen, then final round panel with five people, and got a message they were pursuing other candidates but might be interested in me for a data analyst role. I said that I was interested and inquired about the details but was ghosted by the recruiter. Come beginning of Mar 2024, I was finally contacted about the data analyst role. Had to go through entire process again. Recruiter screen, tech screen (all SQL), and then a final round meeting with 5 people, including hiring manager. I thought the conversations went well and especially since this was my second final loop-- they must be seriously considering me to ask me to go through that, at least I thought. Unfortunately, the recruiter this time didn't even bother updating me after the final round for two weeks, finally, after I kept asking the recruiter responded with a 2 sentence email simply saying, "We've decided not to move forward" and refused to provide any other feedback. Needless to say I'm pretty upset that I was made to go through two entire interview cycles over almost 6 months just to get that. I understand companies aren't obligated to give feedback but obviously something must have happened for them to make me go through two interview loops only to say that and I felt like it would have been a lot more respectful of my time to even at least make something up like, "we decided to go with an internal hire" or "we realized we needed a different skill set," etc.
