Applied to the job and got the next steps to conduct a phone screening interview. On the first 5 min of the call, the recruiter said that the job was already taken and offered a lower status role to explore. Would have rather just gotten an email cancelling than mentally preparing to give it time and energy.

The first screening call went smoothly. The second round is tougher with the usual behavioural questions and a challenging role-play exercise. Unfortunately didn't end up receiving an offer or next step, following the second round and was provided some feedback.
