I applied for the role online and got a response from a recruiter to have a quick chat which was great. That was followed by four other rounds of interviews. The process took three months until I was offered a role, on the initial call and throughout the process I was open about my current package. When I got an offer, the base was 20% less than what I already earned. I said I couldn't take it and suggested a new figure, after two weeks and much chasing, they upped the offer to one that was still 15% lower. I asked to speak to someone about career progression etc and a month later I am still waiting. The most recent it that they are concerned that I would leave quickly because there is a gap in the two salaries. They knew what I earned from the beginning and decided to interview and make a ridiculous offer anyway. What a waste of everyone's time. It's a shame because the role sounded great and just what I was looking for.
