Filled out application. Then received an email to fill out a hiring test which consisted of picking adjectives you were expected to be like and then select adjectives you felt like actually described you.
Then I received an email to set up a 45 minute phone interview with a recruiter. That went well. Recruiter was warm and receptive and gave a proper interview. He asked me questions that related to my resume and experience. Afterwards, he let me know that he was moving me to the next stage and that I would do a group interview over zoom. He also gave me a straight answer about the timeline. He said they were interviewing applicants this week, planned to hire 11, and I would know by Friday the decisions. On Tuesday I had my interview over zoom. It was the worst interview I’ve ever had. 2 of the 3 interviewers were late, uninterested, and very cold. No one asked any follow up questions to my responses. I could tell they had written me off before the interview had even started. They said between each other things like “I think it’s your turn to ask the next question” and “do you want to answer that?” To each other. When it got to the part where it was my turn to ask questions, one of the rude interviewers even let out an exasperated noise at one point when I asked a question that she didn’t feel like answering. The rest of my questions were answered by the interviewer who wasn’t late. When I asked about next steps to gauge their interest by their response (although at this point I might as well not have asked) one of the interviewers curtly said “the recruiter will let you know”. Within 24 hours I received the usual standard rejection email. Considering the recruiter said they were interviewing the rest of the week, it appears my initial assessment was correct in that they had already written me off before the interview had even started. I felt like it was very unfair to my time (I mean they get paid either way if they hire or reject me but I certainly don’t get paid for them wasting my time!!) Also I think there appears to be some organizational issues within the company even at the recruitment level.
