I was asked to do three separate virtual interviews. Each virtual interview was 30 minutes long, no problem. Then I was asked to come in for a half day, multiple person in-person interview cycle, no problem again. After taking a day off from current job, to attend the multiple in person interviews, which added up to 5 - one hour interviews spanning over 8 people. I thought all interviews went well, no sign of negativity. I was feeling good about the day and all the interviews. To be honest, I felt very confident that at the minimum I would get a call back or even an offer. I was told I would hear back from HR and they would be in touch soon. I sent a follow up ‘thank you’ email (no response), a week and half later I sent a check in email (no response). I thought ok, maybe they have multiple candidates so I’ll give it some more time. Then I waiting 2 more weeks, I still didn’t hear any status update on where I stood as a candidate. So I sent one last check in email (no response yet again). I normally would have taken the lack of response as a sign that it was a ‘no’, but the whole time my status in their system was “in-progress”, so I assumed there was still a little chance. After receiving zero communication from HR or anyone about my status, I randomly checked the HR system and my status changed to “closed”. So bottom line I had to go find my own answer. I am fine with not getting the job but wish HR or anyone would have communicated better along the way.
