I got a phone screening by the interviewer and they asked me my pay range. They were very ambiguous with their hours. When I told them my desired pay range (pay similar to positions at lower career level at current company) they told me I was no longer in the candidate pool

Fairly typical process with initial phone screen followed by in person interview at the facility. The Human Resources partners are all very kind and clearly just want to find the right fit for the open role.
