I had two phone interviews without ever speaking to the hiring manager, the first being a screening interview. In the second interview I felt like the interviewer was looking for very specific answers that you likely couldn't surmise unless you worked there and knew the circumstances. I felt the job description didn't fit what they were actually looking for.
