Before OnSite It starts with a HackerRank coding challenge. If you pass the coding challenge, there will be a HR screening and if this goes well an invitation to their onsite interview. OnSite The interview starts approximately at 7:45am and ends at 1:30pm. During breakfast, the entire interviewee cohort will be split into several smaller groups and paired with an employee of Vanguard; during this time you will have the opportunity to ask this employee questions. After breakfast, you will be taken into a classroom and asked to complete a case study; you will be asked to present a high level overview of how would tackle a software engineering problem to a manager. My advice for the case study would be to not solve this specific problem at hand, but also to think outside the box in terms of implementation for the future. After completing the case study, every interviewee will be paired with another Vanguard employee. During this time you will be asked a bunch of technical questions and to present the case study you wrote earlier. For the technical questions, keep your answers short and concise because this portion is more of a "test" than an interview and the interviewer wants to quickly jot down your answers because he or she has a specific deadline to make. Afterwards, you will spend a quite bit of time presenting your case study. The second interview will be a behavioral interview. After the second interview, there will be a lunch break followed by a tour of their building and a PowerPoint presentation.
