J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 3 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez VX MEDIA (New York, NY) en déc. 2024

      Entretien

Make no mistake. This page is for the NYC creative agency. It was "changed" to a South African company recently for reasons unknown. The company does not seem to respect applicants' time or their employees', for that matter. I was given a skills test as the first step of the process. It was assigned on December 30th, 2024 (at 4:30 p.m.) and due on January 3rd, 2025. I was expected to complete the test during New Year's break with zero advance notice. Upon submission of the skills test, I was immediately given editing notes. No interviews have been scheduled up to this point (virtual or in-person) as this was the first step after the application. I never got to know the recruiter before they dropped this huge ask to give up time away from friends and family. An interview is supposed to go both ways. According to the recruiter, there would be an interview with the direct manager after the skills test, and then there will be another skills test (but in-person.) The company gives me the impression that they don't care about people from the way this application process was handled.

This is for the NYC Creative Agency. As other interviewees have shared here, VX Media is quickly becoming notorious for awful interview practices. They habitually ask for large-scale tests to be completed (taking up to 12 work hours to complete) before you are even given a screening call. In my case, I don't think my work will be used by them, but I would not be surprised if they farm work this way. Once the test is completed, you'll likely not hear back--ever. In my case, I moved on to the next "round", where the interviewer gave many red flags while explaining the work environment, even for a startup, it was bad. - "You will 100% get burnt out" - "You will work overtime every week, but we cap you at 37.5 hours." - "We don't let anyone work remotely, but yes, you'll take your work laptop home to respond to messages obviously." - 6 Days PTO, 40 hours sick leave, partial health insurance coverage In the second round, we negotiated salary already, even though there were more rounds to come, which I found very off-putting. If you make it to the third "round", you will be invited to the office for a 6-hour in-person interview (no exaggeration, they'll schedule it for 6-hours). This is where you're given a surprise test with limited time to complete it, and then told you will be presenting your work to all the people in the office (about 20 people). With something so intense, I expected the leadership team to be reassuring and warm, but they only gave me cold responses and seemed bothered that I was even there. It was clear they did not have much work experience, and read questions mostly from Chat GPT. They never followed up to let me know I did not get the job.
