When I see a continuous job opening, I'm always leary. But VIPKID is a legit way to earn part-time money working from home (or on the road). This company is as serious as a heart attack about recruiting and training strong tutors.
If you apply, expect to be aggressively recruited. I would recommend watching videos about the interview demo and be prepared to teach it, with your own visual aids, before you apply. Or state that you don't want to start for a month on the application. They will call and email you repeatedly until you schedule an 'interview'. The interview can be bypassed if you upload your own video of the required demonstration of a 3 or 10 minute lesson. You want to do this well, as your pay will be based largely on your performance on this. If you pass the demo, you will be emailed a contract with a base pay rate. At this point, you will be required to perform 2 10-minute mock class demonstrations. You may attend 2 hour long online group trainings to help prepare you, where you will be told that almost no one passes the mock class on the first try, and that the average amount of times to pass these mock classes are two to four times or more. Ultimately, it is a long unpaid training process. VIPKID will put time limits on redoing demos (within 2-3 days), so don't expect to put it off until the weekend when you have free time. The 'mentor' that judges you on these mock demos will be someone who has worked for VIPKID for a while, but who may not have much education about teaching reading to early childhood ESL learners. The 'mentor' that judges the mock class demos will contradict the online training provided in the VIPKID portal. So don't expect this part to make any kind of sense.
Personally, I dropped out after being a few points from passing the first mock class. Not because I thought I deserved to pass. I was just getting used to the online platform. What turned me off was the rudeness of the knowledgeable 'mentors'. But then again, I didn't really need this job. It was just going to be a side hustle.
On the bright side, if you really want an online teaching job, once you have passed the interview demo, you will eventually be able to teach with them. Know you will have to jump through many unpaid hoops before you actually get to teach. But it is do-able. If this is what you want.

just a quick demo lesson following the course materials, then a few logistical questions and talk about the program. Was quite quick and easy overall if you have teaching experience..
Pretty simple! There was a live and recorded portion where you "teach" a sample class. My interviewer was nice and helpful. Make sure your internet is good and use a wired connection

Easy and straight forward interview process. There is a demo teaching section. This was a while ago so it may have changed. The onboarding process was also easy. Again, this was a while ago, so it may have changed.
