I applied online through indeed.com. I submitted my resume and answered a few preliminary screening questions. I was contacted a few days later and invited to fill out an official application on the VIPKID website. After more screening questions, I was invited to take the interview. There are two options for the interview: you can either have a live interview with a mentor, or you can record yourself teaching a demo lesson. I chose to record myself teaching the demo lesson. Within 2-3 hours after submitting the recording, I was notified that I had passed the interview & was offered my contract/pay rate etc. The next step was the mock class. You have a choice to certify yourself in level 2&3, level 4 or level 2 interactive. I chose level 2&3 as I was interested in teaching beginner level/younger kids who are just learning the English language. In order to prep for this I signed myself up for the online webinar offered by VIPKID. It is a two hour comprehensive class where you have a chance to practice the mock class lesson with an actual teacher/mentor at VIPKID. This helped me prepare for the mock class very well and I highly recommend it if you want to pass your mock class on the first try. I finally signed myself up for the mock class a few weeks after the interview (as i was low on time) and passed successfully on my first try. Within minutes I received an email stating that I could move onto the final process which encompasses a background check etc. Overall I am satisfied with the interview experience. It was comprehensive & thorough, but served as a platform to train me for the actual job.

Initial application with resume, 30 min video call with interviewer directly in China within a few days of sending application, followed by offer of employment via online portal. Upon acceptance, immediate opening of class schedule online.
