      Candidature

J'ai postulé en ligne. Le processus a pris 4 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Uncommon Purpose (Vancouver, BC) en sept. 2022

      Entretien

After I sent my resume, I was contacted by the company representative. I had the initial screening call with him. He described what subsidiary companies they were hiring for. I expressed my interest in Traction Rec so he forwarded my resume to the representative in that subsidiary company. This person asked me to do a coding test (at least of one of three pretty simple coding exercises). I submitted the test and didn't get any feedback for 2 weeks. I sent a follow-up email and it turned out that the representative of Traction Rec forgot about my test. He finally checked it, said it was great and invited me to an interview with him and the company CEO. This interview lasted an hour and included lots of theoretical questions about programming. The CEO and the other representative of the company talked a lot about how important transparency is at Traction Rec. However, they refused to give me the salary range. They told me that there would be three more stages following this interview (so 6 stages in total, including 3 coding tests). After that interview I never received any feedback or heard from them again.

Oh gosh. This is awful. I can only humbly ask your forgiveness in this case. It is clear we failed with putting the candidate experience front and center. We absolutely provide salary ranges- not sure why this was not the case. Typically, our process after an initial screening is a face to face interview/ some kind of demo/ then a virtual coffee chat. I know the R & D team in Traction Rec has been experimenting with different ways- I agree, that 6 steps and 3 coding challenges is too many, and evidence does not back that up. We continue to work with the Rec team to find a process that gets the right thing Rec is looking for, while also being empathetic to the candidate. I am sorry your experience was so poor. We will have to do better.
