1. Phone screen with recruiter: easy casual conversation, asked about background and types of projects I was working on. She then matched me to the team that she thought would be a good fit.
2. Design take-home challenge (1 week): 1 week to complete a take-home exercise. This took a lot of time even though it is framed as a project that only takes a few hours. As designers, we love to perfect sprints...
3. Video call with 2 design managers: Went over a couple projects including the design exercise. A lot of explanation of process and justifications behind design decisions.
4. Onsite 5-6 hour interview: Panel presentation of portfolio, deep dives with 1:1s, and more design exercises. A lot of brain picking and on the spot thinking. Fun team and good energy, but it was obvious they still did not completely flesh out the product they were working on and was keen on new ideas.

The interview went smoothly and felt good overall. Unfortunately, I didn’t make it through the first round. However, I haven’t received any feedback, even after reaching out personally—especially disappointing since the interview experience itself was quite positive.
