      Entretien pour Operations Manager

J'ai postulé via un recruteur. Le processus a pris 5 semaines. J'ai passé un entretien chez Uber (Miami, FL) en nov. 2017

      Entretien

This was by far the most challenging and entertaining interview process I have been part of. Mine was 5 steps. 1) Contacted by a Recruiter through LinkedIn to do a phone screen. In my experience big company's phone screens are mainly going over the position and the resume. This was just 10 mins of the 45 mins conversation, then I got case type questions (where would you launch a Uber Eats, what kind of delivery partners would you use) This went pretty well, so the recruiter mentioned over the call that I made it to the next step which is the analytical test. 2) 2 hours to complete an analytical test, in my opinion, pretty simple, however I do this kind of analyses in my current job. Excel, basic statistics, and process improvement knowledge/proficiency is the key to succeed, there is honestly no shortcuts. Anyways it took me almost the whole time. 3) Phone interview with a team member for 60 mins. This was very similar to the recruiter screen. 5-10 mins of going over my resume and around 45 mins of case type questions. Some thing that really impressed me about the interview is that once you give an answer, they ask you for a different answer again, and this happens continuously over the process. (Ex. Q: how would you solve problem X? A: I would to Y and Z. Q: Ok, now give me another way to do it. A: I would do A and B. Q: Ok, now give me another one) This happens basically in every single question, they are looking to put you into plenty of pressure. Anyways, I did good and next day the Recruiter told me I made it to the 4th round, which is a 60 minute Presentation with the hiring team and a 45-min role-fit panel. 4a) In a nutshell, they give you two scenarios, and with very few direction and data, they ask you to solve the problems of the two scenarios, put it in a power point, present it. I think this where I did best in my whole interview process, they really liked my presentation, I got very positive feedback, and the flow of the conversation turned in my advantage pretty quickly. If someone makes it this far, be prepared to the team to tear down your presentation, I was lucky enough to meet the expectations so this wasn't my case, but I saw their intentions. I believe the most important part here (even though I didn't get the job) is to be firm and try to defend it. Also, they will change the assumptions and ask you how would you solve this problem without X metric or with Y metric. 4b) A virtual panel (on office) with 3 members of the team. At this point I was very confident and also the questions they asked were much less technical and more right fit-like, so I was able to do very good on this. Also very good feedback from the team. Next afternoon I receive a call from the recruiter, she mentioned that the team was very impressed with my presentation, and that I am definitely a perfect fit for the role. However, due to time constrains the hiring manager still had couple of questions that wasn't able to cover over the interview time, so we scheduled a 30 min call for next day. 5) This was very similar to the rest of the interviews, I would say half of the interview was case-question and the other half was role-fit questions. I wouldn't say it went as good as the 4th round, but definitely good enough. At this point I am very confident based on the feedback that I have a serious shot receiving an offer. After this I had conversations with the recruiter once a week for 2+ weeks, without receiving a final decision. Honestly after 2 weeks I knew that something was wrong. Still, I was very confident based on the feedback I constantly received from the recruiter and the team. Almost 3 weeks after my final round the recruiter called me on the afternoon to let me know that the team decided to hire someone else. The recruiter mentioned that I am a perfect fit to this role, and it wasn't because of something specific. However, they had two strong candidates and one sit so the team decided to hire the other one. At this point I was a little shocked, I told them it was very hard for me to believe after the successful interviews and positive feedback. The recruiter said that they will consider me for any future opportunity and that we'll be in touch. I knew that there had other open positions, so I asked about these and she mentioned that these were already filled as well, so we left the communication bridged open for future openings. Overall, I thought this interview process was very fun and challenging just like I like things to be. I really enjoyed (I was even able to connect with the hiring manager and let them know about it). However, the outcome wasn't the was that I was honestly expecting. I would recommend the recruiting team to try to be more objective with the applicants, so no wrong expectations are set.

Five to seven rounds of interviews, tests and presentations just to get a “no, thank you” at the end without much of a feedback. Acceptable for regular recruitment but not after weeks dedicated to the process.

Pretty easy at early stages - just need to know about supply and demand basics. Analytics test is harder, but manageable if you know Excel well. They are definitely interested in your problem solving abilities and ability to "get things done" with minimal supervision.
