The research opportunity was posted online and I emailed an application and email of inquiry. The PI asked a series of questions over email prior to the in person interview. After a face to face interview, there was a period of salary and benefits negotiation with a department laboratory manager. The manager increased the offer only slightly but enough that I accepted the position to work closer to the Medical Center.
